Bethany Sweeney Ballet and Pilates, located in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, is a dance school led by Bethany Sweeney, a trained professional dancer with over 20 years of experience in teaching ballet and Pilates. Bethany offers group sessions and 1-2-1 classes, believing passionately in the value of both ballet and Pilates for all age groups, promoting physical and mental health and fitness.
Bethany's journey in dance began at the age of eight, when she started ballet. She went on to pursue her passion further, attending Tring Park, Arts Educational School to train as a ballet dancer. After training in classical ballet, she expanded her skills by studying contemporary dance at The Laban Centre in London. She then completed a BA (Hons) Dance Degree at De Montfort University.
In 1994, Bethany qualified as a Primary School Teacher and worked in schools for 10 years before establishing her Ballet and Pilates School in 2002.
Pilates is an integral part of ballet training at Bethany Sweeney Ballet and Pilates, as it supports the development of fitness, strength, and flexibility. Bethany personally experienced the additional benefits of Pilates following a serious knee injury that ended her own dance career. Through Pilates, she fully recovered from knee and foot surgeries, enabling her to return to dance and open her school. This personal experience has deepened her belief in the value of both ballet and Pilates for individuals of all ages.
At Bethany Sweeney Ballet and Pilates, adult ballet classes and specialised 1-2-1 student classes are offered. Pilates classes and 1-2-1 Pilates Reformer sessions are also available. Bethany's teaching style is praised by her students, with one describing her adult ballet class as amazing, where it's hard to think about anything else while dancing. Bethany's knowledge, clear explanations, and patient guidance create a great balance between technique, progression, fitness, enjoyment, and fun.
Students experience an impact on their balance, fitness, flexibility, strength, and overall well-being.
