About
Every week, the Bexley Beavers Swimming Club invites disabled individuals and their families to join them for a fun and inclusive swim at Crook Log Leisure Centre in Bexleyheath. Since its founding in 1967, the club has been a welcoming place where everyone can enjoy swimming without any fear of judgement.
Run by Barry and his team of enthusiastic volunteers, the club meets every Friday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. They get the whole pool to themselves, complete with a hoist for those who need a bit of extra help getting in and out. Rest assured, every session is supervised by fully trained volunteer lifeguards from the Royal Life Saving Society, all courtesy of West Kent Lifeguards.
With around 120 members, the club is a supportive community hub, happily welcoming people from Bexley and beyond. Barry and his team put on additional events and activities throughout the year, making sure there's always something to look forward to.
The club runs entirely on donations and fundraising, as they don’t receive any government funding. Members are gently encouraged to drop a voluntary contribution at the door, and for UK Tax Payers, Gift Aid forms are available to help boost the donation by 25%.
If anyone fancies becoming a volunteer lifeguard and making a real difference, just have a chat with one of the lifeguards on a Friday evening. Barry and the team will be thrilled to have more helping hands.
Barry is dedicated to making Bexley Beavers Swimming Club a safe, happy space for everyone, ensuring that the positive impact on its members' lives continues to grow.
