The indoor rock climbing facilities at Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre are designed to cater to climbers of various skill levels. The training wall, which stands at 5 metres in height, is perfect for learning the basics of climbing and belaying, a safety technique. The top rope wall, spanning 10 metres, features 21 lines and offers a diverse range of approximately 40 different climbs. For those who prefer a more challenging experience, the bouldering section allows climbers to free climb without a harness or safety rope to a height of 3 metres.

The lead wall, measuring 12 metres, is reserved for advanced climbers with their own equipment. Climbers must be assessed by the staff to obtain a lead licence, which is free of charge. With space for up to 10 climbers at a time and over 50 different routes, the lead wall provides an exciting challenge for experienced climbers. Additionally, the centre features a battle rope, where climbers use both upper and lower body strength to reach the top.

Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre is also known for its group bookings and sports team training. While group bookings are accepted, exclusive use of the climbing gym is not guaranteed. Admission to the centre provides climbers with a full day of access to the facilities. The centre also accommodates sports teams and groups who wish to conduct their own training and programmes.
