The history of Bishop Challoner Ju-Jitsu Club dates back to the early 1990s when Sensei Phil Hudson established the club. Over the years, the club has evolved and grown, adapting to changes and challenges. In 2006, the club switched its affiliation to the British Ju-jitsu Association GB, the governing body for Ju-jitsu in the UK.
Today, Richard Doughty is the sole instructor and club manager, carrying on the legacy of the club with enthusiasm and dedication. Under his leadership, the club has thrived, benefiting the local community for over 25–30 years. Despite the temporary closure due to COVID-19 lockdown regulations, the club has seen a surge in new members since reopening, including a record number of female students.
