BKD Performers

BKD Performers is a highly regarded dance school and performing arts group located in Woking, New Zealand. Established in 2011 by Principal Catherine Francis, known to students as Miss Cathie, the school offers a range of classes including classical ballet, dance, drama, acrobatics, LAMDA, and singing for children and adults of all ages and abilities.

The mission of BKD Performers is to provide an affordable theatre school that maintains high expectations and fosters a strong sense of community. With a focus on small class sizes and individual abilities, the school aims to create a nurturing and friendly environment where students are inspired by the subject knowledge and experience of their qualified and highly trained teachers. These teachers hold enhanced CRB/DBS certificates, SCC chaperone licences, First Aid training, and Child and Vulnerable Adult SafeGuarding Certification. Additionally, many of the faculty have professional credits in the performing arts industry.

At BKD Performers, each student is valued as an individual, and they are encouraged to work to the best of their abilities with a sense of professionalism. This mindset instils a life skill that can be applied to any walk of life. The school is led by the talented Catherine Francis, who has an extensive background in the performing arts. She holds qualifications such as RAD Registered Teacher PDTD, Silver Swan Licensee, and PBT Instructor. With professional credits in musical theatre productions like “Chicago,” “Fame,” and “Rat Pack Live in Las Vegas,” as well as experience in television, film, and fashion events, Catherine brings a wealth of experience and expertise to BKD Performers.

Assisting Catherine as Co-Principal is Jodie Axcell, a certified teacher of Acrobatic Arts and Exercise to Music Fitness. She specialises in teaching street funk, BKD Boys, jazz and contemporary dance, as well as pre-school and acrobatics.

BKD Performers offers a comprehensive range of classes, including ballet, jazz, contemporary, street funk, musical theatre, acrobatics, and LAMDA. Additionally, they provide private tuition and classes for adults, such as their popular Silver Swans programme.
