Nestled in the Sirhowy valley of South Wales, Blackwood Bowls Club, established in 1904, offers a warm welcome to players of all abilities. As a club with a proud competitive tradition, Blackwood has celebrated many achievements, including the MBA cup club champions title in 2021 and the Division 2 Championship in 2018.
David Witchell, the club coach, is on hand to guide new members, and our friendly members are more than happy to provide free coaching to beginners. Men and women alike are encouraged to join.
With excellent facilities, Blackwood Bowls Club's green is open from mid-April to mid-September. Monday evenings are club nights, where members gather from mid-afternoon until 8pm to socialise and improve their game. The newly renovated clubhouse hosts various events such as BBQ nights, themed evenings, and karaoke.
The club also organises an annual tour and seasonal trips for friendly matches. Our active ladies section often arranges fun days and fundraising events for good causes. Blackwood is committed to fostering an inclusive and enjoyable environment for all.
In 2024, as we celebrate our 120th year, we have many exciting plans, including trips, celebration matches, a new playing kit, and commemorative bowls stickers. Whether you’re an experienced bowler or just beginning, come and join our vibrant community.
