Sally Wright, the organiser of events at Border Ice Rink in Kelso, has been working hard to ensure the rink continues to be a cherished hub for the sports community since its inception in 1964. She’s excited to share some updates.
From October to March, Sally hosts skating sessions every Sunday, welcoming the public and the Border Ice Skating Club. The club also runs lessons for children under 16 keen to learn how to skate. You might be interested to know that the rink can also be hired for events throughout the year. More details can be found on the website.
During the warmer months from June to August, Sally transforms the ice rink into a roller skating venue, open three days a week. It’s a great way for families and individuals to stay active and have fun together.
Sally is particularly proud of the Club Lounge at the rink. It’s a spacious area with almost 100 chairs and 8 tables, plus another 6 folding tables. It’s an ideal spot to relax with a drink, enjoy good company, and watch some local curling. The lounge can be booked for curling functions or club events, and the café can provide food if you need it.
Sally remains committed to supporting the local community and nurturing a love for ice sports. Whether you’re into curling, ice skating, or roller skating, Border Ice Rink offers a welcoming environment for everyone.
