Bosham Yoga, located in Chichester, is a yoga instructor that believes yoga is a transformative journey into oneself – body, mind, and spirit. Their mission is to help individuals improve their happiness and well-being through the practise of yoga, guiding them on a path of self-discovery.
Unlike traditional exercise classes, Bosham Yoga places a strong emphasis on mental and emotional health, combining physical postures with breath work and meditation/relaxation sessions. By incorporating these elements into every class, Bosham Yoga aims to leave participants feeling refreshed and calm.
Bosham Yoga offers a variety of classes at different locations. The “Your Yoga” class, held at Bosham Village Hall, is designed for beginners, those over 50 years old, individuals who are fit but inflexible, or anyone looking for a less demanding class. This gentle approach allows students to improve their balance, strength, flexibility, and mental well-being at their own pace.
For a more invigorating experience, Bosham Yoga offers the “Feel-Good Yoga” class at the Chidham & Hambrook Village Hall. This class provides a balanced programme of meditation, posture work, pranayama (breathing practise), and relaxation. With a longer class duration, participants have the opportunity to explore a wider range of postures and movements.
To ensure comfort during the classes, Bosham Yoga recommends wearing comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Bringing a yoga mat, water bottle, and optional props such as blocks or straps is also encouraged. Booking for classes is not essential, but beginners are welcome to try their first class for free.
Bosham Yoga is led by Viv Ward, who discovered yoga after finding that the gym classes didn't fit her schedule. With a background in psychology and a PhD gained through empirical research, Viv is passionate about the mind-body connexion that yoga recognises. She believes in keeping an open mind and embracing the ancient teachings of yoga, which date back over 4,000 years.
Viv Ward is a qualified yoga instructor, having completed the 200-hour level training with Friends of Yoga Society International. Her passion for yoga and its transformative effects on individuals is evident in the classes she teaches at Bosham Yoga.
Whether you are new to yoga or have previous experience, Bosham Yoga welcomes you to join their classes and embark on a journey of self-improvement and well-being.
