The Bowen Park Disk Golf Course, nestled within the picturesque Bowen Park in Nanaimo, offers a unique and challenging disk golf experience for players of all skill levels. The course is located in the heart of the city and spans the undeveloped areas of the 36-hectare park, providing a beautiful natural setting for a round of disk golf.
Players can enjoy a leisurely stroll along interpretive trails that meander along the Millstone River, leading to a scenic waterfall and fish ladder. The park also features a duck pond, an impressive rhododendron grove with over 350 different species, and amenities such as an outdoor swimming pool (summer), sports fields, curling club, outdoor lacrosse box, tennis courts, horseshoe pitches, sand volleyball courts, two playgrounds, lawn bowling green, and an outdoor amphitheatre available for weddings and private events.
The disk golf course offers a challenging layout with varying levels of difficulty, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced players. Disks can be borrowed at the registration counter, making it accessible for those new to the sport or visiting players. The course is well-maintained and provides a fun and engaging experience for disk golf enthusiasts.
Bowen Park was donated to the City of Nanaimo in 1918 with a condition for park purpose only, and it officially became city property in 1931. The Bowen Administration Office is open Monday through Friday for any inquiries or assistance.
