About

Everyone". During the course, all equipment will be provided and matched to each individual's needs.

The Bowmen of Minchinhampton is a longstanding archery club that was founded in 1975 by Stan Gilchrist. Located in Eastington at the Community Centre, the club boasts a brilliant location that is easy to find. The club has a strong and friendly community, with members of all ages welcome.

The club's members have achieved numerous awards at County, Regional, and National levels over the years, showcasing their dedication and skill. While some members have reached county level in their archery journey, the club's main focus is to promote archery in the local area and beyond. As part of this commitment, the club organises an annual tournament that attracts participants from various other clubs.

During the outdoor season from April to October, shooting times are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4pm until sunset. On Sundays, shooting is available from 8am to 1pm. In the indoor season after the clocks change from November to March, shooting takes place at the Archway Sports Centre in Paganhill, GL5 4AX. Indoor shooting is available on Sundays from 10am to 12pm.

To encourage beginners to explore the sport of archery, the Bowmen of Minchinhampton offer two beginner's courses each year, generally in March and September. These courses are a great way to learn all the basic aspects of archery and determine if the sport is right for you. The courses run over four consecutive Saturdays, starting at 8. 30am and are open to participants aged 8 and above.

Safety is a priority, and completion of the Archery GB course is required to join any target archery club in the UK. If participants have already completed the course with another club and joined Archery GB, they will not need to repeat it. However, proof of completion and Archery GB membership will be required.

Joining the Bowmen of Minchinhampton's beginner's course is an opportunity to discover the fun and excitement of archery, regardless of athletic ability. Archery is a sport for everyone, and the club provides a friendly and supportive environment for beginners to experience the ancient sport firsthand. After the course, participants can choose to join the Bowmen of Minchinhampton or any other archery club in the country to continue their archery journey.
