Welcome to Bridgwater Angling Association Ltd, a fishing club that caters to all types of anglers in Bridgwater, New Zealand. Established in 1905, our association aims to provide a well-maintained and safe place for anglers to enjoy their pastime while also protecting the environment for wildlife and future generations.
With a variety of waters to suit most needs, Bridgwater Angling Association offers a range of fishing opportunities for both new and returning members of any age. Our membership period runs from June 16th to June 15th each year, and we welcome anglers of all experience levels.
As a club, we are committed to promoting the sport of angling. We organise local matches and offer venue bookings throughout the year. Additionally, we have a trained coach who runs several introduction to angling coaching events annually, providing beginners with the opportunity to learn and improve their skills.
At Bridgwater Angling Association, we take pride in our long history and the venues we manage. In 1969, we purchased Combwich Ponds, and in 2018, we completed the acquisition of Dunwear Ponds. These beautiful venues are maintained using the yearly membership fees, and we work closely with organisations to promote our sport and ensure their preservation.
Our committee comprises dedicated individuals who oversee the operations of the association. Nigel Gillard serves as the Chairman, Company Secretary, and Head Bailiff, while James Mason is the Vice Chairman and Water Manager for Combwich. Mrs. C Howe handles the treasurer and secretary duties, and Donna Hooper is responsible for membership administration.
We also have many pond assistants, coaches, and a press and communications team.
In addition to fishing activities, Bridgwater Angling Association holds work parties on the first weekend of every month. These work parties are an opportunity for members to come together and help maintain our venues. We appreciate any assistance as our works are onerous for our small group.
