Doncaster Sambo is excited to announce the British Combat Sambo Championships for Adults and Juniors on June 15th, 2024. It's going to be a thrilling competition with belts and medals up for grabs for those who make it to the podium.
For the first time, juniors will have their own championship following Combat Sambo Light rules, excluding strikes to the head and banning elbows and headbutts. Adults will compete under full Combat Sambo rules.
Participants under 12 won't be allowed to use submission holds, and everyone must come equipped with the necessary gear, such as Sambo Shorts, Sambo Kurtka, Sambo Boots, mouthguard, groin guard, shin pads, and 4 oz Sambo gloves or MMA gloves. GI bottoms are a no-go, but rash guards and spats are okay for juniors. Remember, no wrestling or boxing boots allowed – Sambo Boots are a must.
Weight categories will be determined on the day based on the info provided and weigh-in weights for junior participants. Normally, juniors are matched by age and weight, but special circumstances can lead to changes. Adults will adhere to standard Sambo weight categories.
Early bird registration only costs £25 until May 25th, 2024, with a £10 increase after that date. The final registration cut-off is June 8th, 2024. Spectators can pay at the door, with admission fees of £5 for adults and £2 for those under 18. Kids under 5 can watch for free.
