Brockwell Park BMX Track

Established by Ken Floyde in 1981, Brixton BMX Club operates the track and has been a significant force in supporting young people in the Brixton community through sport. Inspired by a BMX demo race at the Earls Court Motorcycle show, Ken's vision was to create a club that fosters growth, teamwork, and camaraderie among riders.

Over the past four decades, Brixton BMX Club has played a pivotal role in shaping some of the UK's most successful racers. Notable riders who have emerged from the club include Charlie Reynolds and CK Flash in the 1980s, as well as the accomplished Whyte and Isidore brothers, who currently race with team GB. BMX racing itself transitioned into an organised sport governed by British Cycling in the early 1980s and became an Olympic sport in 2008. Kye Whyte, who started riding at Brockwell Park BMX Track with Brixton BMX Club at a young age, even won an Olympic silver medal in 2021.

Brockwell Park BMX Track is open every day to riders of all abilities. While the club has exclusive use of the track from 9am to 1pm on weekends, it is otherwise open and free for everyone to enjoy. Newcomers are always welcome to join the club's coaching sessions, regardless of age or experience. Some riders from Brixton BMX Club also compete in competitions all across the UK, showcasing their skills and representing the club with pride.
