Decision to leave was based on a disagreement over the direction of the club. One of the main issues was that at the time, the Hamilton Yacht Club was situated at the end of Hamilton's industrial harbour and was not an ideal location for recreational boating. When the breakaway group left, they chose the area of Bronte in Oakville as their new location. Bronte was decided for its proximity to Lake Ontario, as well as its stunning natural beauty.
The Bronte Harbour Yacht Club has a rich history and strong traditions that have been passed down through the years. Members of the club are proud to uphold these traditions, which include regular regattas, social events, and community outreach programs. The club is dedicated to promoting the sport of sailing and boating, and members are encouraged to participate in the various racing, cruising, and paddling activities that the club offers.
