Brookfield Badminton Club

Brookfield Badminton Club, led by dedicated organiser John Smith, is back in action after a COVID-19 break and is eager to welcome both returning and new players. Located in Southampton, the club remains a favourite, known for its approachable and inclusive atmosphere, appealing to badminton enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Club nights happen every Monday from 8pm to 10pm at Brookfield Community School. The club runs year-round, with the winter season from September to April aligning with the badminton league season, and the summer season from May to August focusing on social play.

With an annual membership of about 25 players of varying ages, members enjoy access to up to 4 courts during club nights. Brookfield Badminton Club competes in multiple leagues including Southampton, Portsmouth & Havant, and Winchester district leagues.

As an affiliate of Badminton England, the club benefits from liability insurance through the organisation. While competitiveness is encouraged, having fun is paramount. Social events like Christmas gatherings and summer BBQs add to the club's enjoyment.

New members are always welcome. Interested players are encouraged to arrange a guest visit for just £7 per night. During the league season, guests can attend up to three trial club nights before deciding on membership. The relaxed summer season is perfect for newcomers to get a feel for the club.

Special arrangements are in place for under-19s and shift workers, with membership requirements discussed directly with the Treasurer. The club fosters a sense of community within the sport, affiliating with various local badminton associations.

Brookfield Community School at Brook Lane, Sarisbury Green, Southampton SO31 7DU, hosts most club nights and matches. For those arriving from the east via Junction 9 of the M27, follow the A3051 and A27 to Park Gate, then take Brook Lane at the Esso garage roundabout. From the west, take Junction 8 and the directions to Park Gate along A27.

Home matches on Saturdays are at the Lockswood Community Centre Hall, Centre Way, Southampton SO31 6DX. Directions from the east involve taking Junction 9 (A3051) on the M27 towards Park Gate (A27), with the community centre on the left.
