Since its establishment in 2002, Brookwood Elite AAU basketball program in Montreal has become a leading summer basketball program in Eastern Canada. The primary objective of the program is to provide athletes with valuable exposure by participating in high-profile tournaments in the United States, where they have the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of college coaches from across the country. With a strong focus on player development, many alumni of the Elite program have gone on to play at the collegiate level in the NCAA or CIS.
In 2014, Brookwood Elite formed a partnership with Adidas to further enhance the program and expand the reach of basketball in Quebec. This partnership has allowed the program to grow significantly in recent years, with teams now ranging from ages 12U to 17U. The program's success can be attributed to its commitment to providing young athletes with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in the sport.
Brookwood Elite is proud of its alumni who have made a name for themselves in the basketball world. Notable former players include Bennedict Mathurin, who was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the 2023 NBA Draft, Luguentz Dort of the OKC Thunder, and Khem Birch of the Toronto Raptors. These players, along with many others, have represented their respective universities at the NCAA Division 1 level and have also competed at the international level for Team Canada.
The program also hosts an annual invitational tournament, the Brookwood Elite/Red Rush/Pag Basketball Invitational Tournament, providing young athletes with the opportunity to compete against top talent from across the region. Sponsorship opportunities are available for teams and the tournament, allowing businesses to support the growth of basketball in the community.
