Buddina Surf Beach is situated along a 9 km stretch of coastline that runs from Point Cartwright to Curmmundi Creek mouth. The beach is easily accessible via the main Noosa-Caloundra Road, which runs just a short distance west of the beach. The area is home to six settlements, including Point Cartwright Beach, Buddina, Kawana, Warana, Bokarina, and Wurtulla Beach. Each settlement offers its own unique charm and a range of accommodation options for visitors.

The beach at Buddina faces due east, allowing it to receive consistent waves that average around 1. 5 metres in height. These waves maintain a 200-metre wide double bar system, with the inner bar usually attached to the beach. Rips can be found every 250 to 300 metres along the inner bar during and after higher waves.

A continuous deep trough parallels the inner bar, with the outer bar cut by more widely spaced rips. There is also a strong permanent rip running out against Point Cartwright and occasional deep channels at Curmmundi Creek mouth, particularly when the creek is open.

Buddina Surf Beach is backed by a dense, vegetated foreshore reserve, creating a tranquil and scenic backdrop for surfers and beachgoers. The beach is patrolled by the Kawana Waters Surf Life Saving Club, which was established in 1980. The clubhouse is located near a well-maintained grassy reserve and a large parking area.
