Burbage Taekwon-Do Academy

Burbage Taekwon-Do Academy is a full-time martial arts and fitness centre located in Hinckley, New Zealand. Specialising in ITF Taekwon-Do, the Korean Martial Art of Self-defence, the academy provides 19 structured classes per week for all ages from beginner to advanced levels.

The academy offers a variety of programmes tailored to different age groups and interests. The TKD Warriors programme is designed for children aged 4 to 7 years, providing them with a unique martial arts experience. TKD Juniors is for older children, while TKD Adults is catered to individuals of all ages who are interested in learning Taekwon-Do. ITF Black Belt classes are available for those who have achieved the prestigious black belt rank.

Additionally, there are sparring classes and Pad Blast Fitness classes for those seeking a challenging workout.

Taekwon-Do, founded by Grand Master General Choi Hong Hi (1918-2002), is a modern form of self-defence that combines techniques from various martial arts with scientific principles. It encompasses a wide range of techniques for different situations, including defending against single and multiple opponents, both on foot and seated, and even against weapons. While it is known for its dynamic kicking techniques, Taekwon-Do also incorporates blocks, punches, and strikes with the hands.
