The back of their family home on WhiteKnowle Road in Buxton. As the years went by, the school grew and expanded, and now boasts a large enclosed fenced outdoor arena suitable for riders of all levels, from beginners to experienced.
In 2022, a major addition was made to Buxton Riding School with the completion of an indoor arena. This new addition allows riders to participate all year round, regardless of the weather conditions. The indoor arena can now be pre-booked online, with limited time slots available throughout the week.

Caroline and Louise, the founders of Buxton Riding School, have a rich history in the equestrian world. They spent their childhood competing in show-jumping all around the country, enjoying great success with the support of their parents. Their wins include The Great Yorkshire Show, Cheshire Show, Royal Lancashire, Windsor, and the Horse of the Year Show.
At the age of 18, Caroline and Louise realised that teaching horse riding was their natural path to follow. They started Buxton Riding School in 1985, with just two small ponies named Lady and Harum. Over the years, the school has grown and evolved into the reputable establishment it is today.
In addition to their equestrian pursuits, Caroline was involved in the creation of The Helen Atkin Riding for the disabled group in 1987, along with John and Pat Atkin. This group has provided incredible opportunities to individuals with disabilities, and has become a testament to the inclusive nature of equestrian sports.
