The Cairns Bridge Club, founded in 1972, is a prominent bridge club located at 85-91 Greenslopes St, Edge Hill, just 4 km north of the Cairns CBD. With its own air-conditioned clubhouse that includes ample parking and space for over 20 tables, the club offers a comfortable and welcoming environment for players of all levels and experience.
Membership is currently over 200, and the club hosts playing sessions every day of the week except Sundays. Regardless of skill level, the club ensures that there is a session to meet each player's needs. For beginners, the club runs day and evening beginners lessons that start in February each year. Following these lessons, attendance at Supervised Play is strongly encouraged.
Intermediate level lessons are also available throughout the year.
The Cairns Bridge Club also organises congresses and special events all year round, providing additional opportunities for players to participate in exciting and challenging bridge play. The club has a well-structured schedule with various session times throughout the day. Morning sessions start at 9:30am, and afternoon sessions start at 1:30pm. Evening sessions start at 7:15pm. It is advised for players to be seated at their tables 15 minutes prior to the start time.
Some sessions have restrictions in place, such as players with certain MpS (Masterpoint Scores) being required to partner with players with specific MpS. Players who need a partner for pairs sessions or teammates for teams sessions can contact Andy Mathieson and arrangements will be made with at least 24 hours' notice.
The Cairns Bridge Club takes pride in its contributions and support from the local community. The Queensland Government's Gambling Community Benefit Fund contributed to the club for the purchase of additional solar panels, and the Cairns Regional Council provided a contribution for new carpet in the clubroom.
