If you're looking for a fun and inexpensive dance experience in Calgary, look no further than Calgary Folkdance Fridays! For over 25 years, this dance club has been teaching traditional dances from around the world, with a current selection of over 250 different dances. The instructors at Calgary Folkdance Fridays donate their time, expertise, and enthusiasm to make sure everyone has a great time learning and dancing.
You don't need any special training to join in the fun – just wear comfortable non-floor marking shoes and come ready to dance! You don't even need to bring a partner, as there are always plenty of friendly faces to dance with. If you're new to folk dancing, you can try it out for free at one of the open houses held throughout the year.
Calgary Folkdance Fridays meets on Friday nights from September until May at the Evergreen Community Spaces. The first hour is dedicated to warm-up and learning new dances, followed by a request period for your favourite dances. Membership is only $20/year, which gives you access to reduced dancing rates. Non-members can pay a drop-in fee of $10 per evening, with teens always welcome free of charge.
