The Canadian Masters Cross Country Ski Association, based in Stephenville, has been dedicated to promoting the sport of cross country skiing for individuals over the age of 30 since its establishment in September 1980. The MCC works in collaboration with Provincial/Territorial associations to grow the sport of masters cross country skiing across Canada. The association is governed by a Board of Directors, which includes a director from each member province and territory, as well as a National Director.
The association hosts annual National Masters Championships, with membership ranging from 500–800 individuals. Canada is one of 28 member nations of the World Masters Association, with the Canadian Masters representing Canada at international meetings. The association was founded by William Gairdner, Sr. and has grown from a small group of members to a thriving organization.
The upcoming 2024 Canadian Masters event will be hosted by the Menihek Nordic Ski Club in Labrador City, Newfoundland & Labrador, from March 20-23, 2024. Registration for the event requires membership in the Canadian Masters Cross Country Ski Association. Early bird registration fees end on January 7th, 2024.
The association also holds a draw for top-of-the-line skis at the Canadian National event, with tickets available for purchase at the event, with membership, or by submitting a form along with payment to the National Director. For those interested in hosting a Canadian Masters' event, the association provides opportunities for individuals to get involved and support the growth of the sport.
