Whether you are a beginner looking to learn the game or a returning player eager to refresh your skills, the club offers a range of educational programmes and playing opportunities to suit your needs.
For beginners, the club provides a fun, friendly, and supportive environment to learn bridge. The next beginners' classes are scheduled to commence on Wednesday evening, January 31, 2024, and Friday morning, February 2, 2024. The course consists of six weekly lessons and includes everything you need to learn, including a textbook, detailed notes, and three free vouchers for supervised play after completion. The cost for the course is $69.
To express your interest in attending these classes, you can contact the Managers or the novice coordinator via phone or email.
If you are a returning player who has been away from the game for some time, the club offers supervised sessions. These sessions start with a six-week supervised duplicate, which includes a short 10-minute lesson before each game. The club also provides a more in-depth supervised education programme for those with a little more experience playing bridge. You can attend these sessions by yourself or with a partner, and afterwards, you have the option to play in the regular matchpoint walk-in pairs session.
The cost for the class is $6 for members and $8 for non-members.
The Canberra Bridge Club is also committed to providing online learning opportunities. If you would like to try some basic online lessons, you can visit the Australian Bridge Federation (ABF) website for more information.
In addition to the educational programmes, the club holds a variety of in-Club and online bridge sessions and events. These include regular sessions throughout the week, such as Monday morning, Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday evening, Thursday morning and afternoon, Friday morning and afternoon, and Saturday afternoon. The club also hosts special events, such as the Hugh Hudson Pairs, which will take place from January 23 to February 6, 2024.
To participate in the club's face-to-face sessions, the table fees are $12 for general sessions. It is important to note that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, sessions, and events may be subject to changes or cancellations. Therefore, it is recommended to check the club's website and newsletter frequently for the latest updates.
The Canberra Bridge Club welcomes bridge players of all levels and aims to provide a supportive and enjoyable environment for everyone. So whether you are a seasoned player or just starting out, this club is the perfect place to grow your love for bridge and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
