Capernwray Swimming Pool

Capernwray Swimming Pool in Carnforth is a hit with swimmers of all ages. Known for its 18m by 7.5m pool with a depth up to 1.5m, it’s perfect for a leisurely splash or focused lane swimming.

Lorna Carter ensures the pool is divided into sections during public sessions—one for casual swimming at your own pace and roped lanes for serious length swimmers. On Monday mornings, there are special lanes for different skill levels.

The pool opens on Mondays for adults from 09:00-10:15 and 19:30-20:30. Tuesdays have a 60+ session from 00:00-10:15 and a parents and under-5s session from 10:30 to 11:30. They’re closed on Wednesdays, but open Thursdays from 18:15 to 19:15 and Saturdays from 09:30 to 10:45. Closed Fridays and Sundays.

Entry fees are straightforward: £4 for adults (16-59), £3 for over 60s and children 5-15, and free for under 5s. You can also buy a discount card offering 12 swims for the price of 10.

Lorna also coordinates swimming lessons with local schools from Monday to Friday. “Mad About Swimming” runs lessons on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 16:00 for ages 3+.
