CarriageHire, located in Bedford, is a renowned horse rental service and wedding shop with over 35 years of experience in providing horses and carriages for various occasions. CarriageHire is owned by Liz and Steve, who met through their shared passion for horses over 30 years ago. Initially, their main interest was in competing in Driven 3 Day Events and Showing a Pair of Horses. However, they also received requests for wedding carriages, and thus, the commercial business began to flourish.

Known for their high standards of turnout and willingness to try new experiences, Liz and Steve have had amazing opportunities with their horses. These include leading the New Year Parade in Hong Kong in 2002, participating in the Battle of Trafalgar 200th Anniversary celebrations with a 6-week trip from Falmouth to London, and being part of the Battle of Waterloo events in Belgium and London.

To ensure quality service, CarriageHire is a member of the Professional Carriage Masters Association (PCMA). They have fully trained coachmen and experienced horses, holding a BDS certificate for driving horses and carriages in urban environments. Furthermore, they have operators' licences for their horsebox and hold 10 million Public Liability insurance from the NFU.

Liz, who currently manages CarriageHire, is passionate about organising various events with the horses. She handles weddings, funerals, and Father Christmas events throughout the year. Additionally, Liz participates in Attelage de Tradition events both locally and internationally. During the winter, the horses take part in indoor carriage driving events, which provide great fun and excellent schooling for the horses.

Unfortunately, Steve, who played a significant role in the success of CarriageHire, passed away two years ago and is greatly missed. He had a lifelong involvement with horses and was passionate about tradition. Steve was a member of The Coaching Club and successfully drove a team of four horses and a private coach in the show ring for many years. He also competed in FEI events with both pairs and teams, showcasing his natural ability.
