More Miss Emily is the Co-Owner of Celtic Element School of Dance and teaches our Celtic Movement, Tartan Tots, Beginner and Advanced Competitive Step, Teen and Adult step, and the Competitive Step/Highland Combo classes. An early childhood educator at a local child care centre, Emily loves working with children in any form. She works hard to create a positive and supportive environment for her dancers, focusing on technique, musicality, and fun. Emily has over 20 years of dance experience, is an Associate of the British Association of Highland Dance, and member of Scotdance Nova Scotia.
Emily holds a Bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Studies and is passionate about helping her students grow, not only as dancers but as individuals. Some of her favourite dance memories include performing at local community events and seeing her students succeed and grow in their dancing abilities. Outside of dance, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, and staying active with yoga and hiking.
At Celtic Element School of Dance, we believe in fostering a love of dance in all of our students. We offer competitive and recreational dance training in a warm, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere for dancers of all ages and abilities. Our classes follow the BATD syllabus, allowing our dancers to stand medal tests at least once a year. In addition to technical training, we focus on creating a strong sense of community through school-wide gatherings and events.
Our team of experienced teachers, Elizabeth Hughes and Emily Barrett, are passionate about sharing their love of dance with their students. With over 25 years of experience in highland dance, they provide personalized and engaging instruction, tailored to each student's individual needs. Elizabeth and Emily are dedicated to helping their students grow not only as dancers but as individuals, building confidence, creativity, and team spirit.
