About

St Anthony's Football Club, a local Soccer club in Glasgow, recently looked back on the achievements of its Centenary Year winning league side. The club organised a memorable event at the David Lloyd in Renfrew on Saturday Night, which transported everyone back in time. The highlight of the evening was the reunion of the league-winning “Ants Legends” side of 2002/03, who were honoured for their accomplishments.

The event was expertly hosted by the brilliant PG & Dak, who did an outstanding job as the MC. Additionally, St. Mirren Legend Tony Fitzpatrick, who is also involved with their club partner Legacy Comps, gave a special guest speech. It was truly a night to remember.

In addition to celebrating the achievements of the 2002/03 side, the club also took the opportunity to recognise two individuals for their long-standing commitment. Club Assistant Manager Ronnie McDonald was acknowledged for his 20 years of dedicated service, while Club Treasurer Felix McKenna received recognition for an impressive 50 years at the club.

The esteemed co-management team of James “Cotter” McKenna and Bernard “Dixie” Kilcullen spoke passionately about the season and the talented team they had assembled. They then invited all the players from the squad who were able to attend the event to come forward and collect a small token of appreciation.

To add to the nostalgic atmosphere, the team also had the chance to take photographs with the original trophy they had lifted on that memorable day at Forth. Proceeding to dance into the small hours, it was a night of jubilation and camaraderie.

The success of the event would not have been possible without the dedication and organisation of Ants committee member Kelly Wallace. Martin McKenna played a vital role in arranging the gifts and trophy, while James McKenna Snr gathered the legendary players to fill the hall. Additionally, special thanks were extended to PG & Dak for hosting the night, Tony Fitzpatrick for providing continued support to the club and delivering an inspiring speech, David Lloyd Renfrew for providing an exceptional venue, the fantastic DJ who kept the dance floor buzzing, and, most importantly, to everyone who attended and contributed to this celebration of legends. The event raised much-needed funds for the club.

Looking ahead, St Anthony's Football Club is excited to host its upcoming Club Player of the Year awards night. This event, taking place on Saturday 6th May 2023 at the David Lloyd Renfrew at 7pm, will honour the first team, under 20s, and walking football teams. Tickets for this highly anticipated evening are only £10, which includes a DJ and a delicious Chinese Buffet dinner. They can be conveniently purchased online through the club's Fanbase portal. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to celebrate the exceptional talents within the club!
