About

Centred Yoga Studio is a renowned yoga studio located in the beautiful Slad Valley, on the outskirts of Stroud. Nestled within the walled garden and grounds of a Georgian manor house, the studio is housed in a renovated 17th Century cowshed. The practise room is clean, bright, and heated, providing a comfortable and dedicated space for the practise of Iyengar Yoga.

The Iyengar method of Yoga, pioneered by the late B. K. S. Iyengar, focuses on physical practise with a strong emphasis on safety and alignment.

Utilising props and equipment, this method enables students to achieve good postural alignment and extension in the poses or Asanas. It is a non-religious and universal practise that promotes physical and mental well-being.

Classes at Centred Yoga Studio are taught to the standards laid out by the Iyengar Association of the UK qualification introductory levels 1 and 2. Introductory level 1 is designed for newcomers to Yoga and Iyengar Yoga, while Introductory level 2 is suitable for students with some experience who are looking to progress in their established practise.

The duration of a class is 1 hours, and classes must be block-booked in advance per term. The studio provides separate male and female changing rooms and restrooms, ensuring a comfortable and convenient experience for all students.

Ian Hibbs, the teacher at Centred Yoga Studio, is a fully qualified Iyengar Yoga teacher to Introductory Level 2 Certification. He has the expertise to teach both newcomers and experienced practitioners, having been taught by B. K. S.

Iyengar himself and his daughter, Geeta Iyengar. Ian regularly travels to India to further his studies and practise with senior teachers from the Iyengar Institute.

When attending classes at Centred Yoga Studio, it is recommended to wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement, such as a T-shirt with shorts or leggings. Baggy clothing is not advised. As yoga involves inverted poses, it is recommended not to eat within 2–3 hours prior to practise. While staying hydrated is important, it is not advisable to drink water during the practise session, and water is not permitted in the studio.

Classes are usually offered in 6-week blocks or terms, and the next term begins on January 8th. The studio offers various class times throughout the week, catering to different levels and preferences. The Monday morning class is a recuperative class suitable for students who require a slower and more gentle practise, utilising props to maintain and sustain the poses.

For more information about class prices, timetables, and how to get in touch with the studio, please visit their website or contact them via the provided phone number.

Aside from their yoga classes, the studio also sells fine quality natural incense imported from Tattva Incense, both in-store and through their online platform. This incense adds a touch of relaxation and tranquilly to any yoga or meditation practise.
