Learn more RECESS Champions A new leadership program designed to empower students in grades 4, 5, and 6 to organize and facilitate dynamic physical activities during recess. Learn more An urgent cause We Are Facing a Rising Childhood Inactivity Crisis Alarming trends are sending children on a dangerous path. High levels of sedentary time, particularly screen time at a young age, have been associated with higher body fat, poor diet and lower self-regulation, lower cognitive development, social and mental health challenges, slower motor development and reduced cardiovascular health. This generation will need to become habitually physically active to grow into healthy, resilient adults who can survive and thrive in a changing world.
Together, we must focus on movement behaviour change in children, for whom a timely early intervention will lead to vastly superior health outcomes over their lifespan. Help us take action 24% Fewer than 1 in 4 Canadan children get enough physical activity each day 4. 8% of children (ages 5-11) are meeting 24-hour movement behaviour guidelines during COVID-19 restrictions 2/3 of children have not developed basic physical literacy Supporting our efforts Partnering for More Active School Communities With the support of our generous partners and donors, the Champions for Life Foundation can offer its programs in elementary schools to help thousands of children to be active for a lifetime!
