Dudley Redhead Netball Club, a well-known Netball club in Newcastle, is excited to promote the local Netball event held by the Charlestown Netball Association. Known as the Saturday comp, this main competition serves as a highlight for Netball enthusiasts in the area.
Starting in late March and spanning until late August or early September, the Saturday comp consists of approximately 14–15 rounds of thrilling Netball action. The season concludes with three highly anticipated finals rounds, including the preliminary finals, semi-finals, and grand finals. It's an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and compete for glory on the court.
Every Saturday, players of different age groups eagerly gather to participate in this exciting event. The games are intelligently scheduled to cater to each age group's needs. The youngest players, aged 5–9 years old, kickstart the day with the NetSetGO (NSG) development program, which introduces them to the world of Netball through modified rules. These NSG games usually take place on Saturday mornings. Following the NSG matches, it's time for the U10s, Juniors, Intermediate, and Cadets teams to take centre stage. Finally, in the afternoon, the Senior teams grace the court with their impressive skills and competitive spirit.
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the game times have been adjusted to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. The organisers have taken extra precautions by allowing ample time for players to exit the venue before the next round begins.
