Chatham Table Tennis Club boasts a rich history, being formed in 1999, and has become the largest and most awarded table tennis club in the area. They have a purpose-built table tennis centre equipped with 12 tables and a communal area, providing an ideal environment for players to practise and compete. The club is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about table tennis and are committed to growing and developing players of all abilities. The team includes the club president, Dennis Harrington, who is an honorary leader and oversees refreshments. Trevor Towers serves as the chairman and head coach, providing day-to-day leadership and overseeing coaching activities. Martin Birley takes charge of the club's finances as the treasurer, ensuring that the club stays within budget.
Segun Ake serves as the secretary, responsible for keeping everyone updated and organising the club's documentation. Malcolm Kay serves as the tournament secretary, organising all competitive events within the club. Martin Coake is the safeguarding officer, representing the parents' perspective on the committee. The coaching team includes qualified coaches such as Roger Chipperfield, Mark Buckley, Ben Towers, Gareth Fox, John Jennings, and Julian Barker, who all volunteer their time to support club activities.
The main club night for Chatham Table Tennis Club takes place on Friday evenings at The Howard School Table Tennis Centre. This session is open to all club members, regardless of their skill level, and offers a great opportunity for players to engage in friendly matches and practise. The club night is divided into three sessions: a junior session from 17:30 to 18:50, an adults & invited juniors session from 19:00 to 20:20, and an adults session from 20:30 to 21:50. Fees for participation vary, with juniors paying 3, adults paying 4, and concessions (for individuals aged 65+ or students) paying 3.
