Welcome to Chhandaneerh- An Institute of Bharatnatyam, located in Midnapore, West Bengal. Chhandaneerh is a dance school dedicated to providing courses in Bharatnatyam, one of the most revered classical Indian dance forms. Under the direct guidance of Joyeeta Hore, a dynamic Bharatnatyam dancer specializing in the traditional style of 'Kalashkshetra', Chhandaneerh has been imparting dance education since 2004.
Chhandaneerh hosts an annual dance showcase called Sinchan, held in the last week of December in Midnapore, West Bengal. Sinchan is a two-day event that not only promotes Indian Classical Dance but also encourages artists and students of the Institute to showcase their talent. The institute also offers courses in creative dance and has produced major indigenous productions such as ‘LAGIYE PALE’, ‘SWAPNA’ and ‘KALYANI’.
With a mission to enrich, inspire and educate audiences through the expressive power of movement, Chhandaneerh aims to stimulate a deeper awareness of the language of dance movements, the history of Indian classical dance, and the transformative power of live performances. The institute's vision is to bridge an interface between dancers and audiences, helping them re-establish a deep connection with their own bodies, build awareness of nuances and expressions, and revitalize a cultural experience.
Chhandaneerh is deeply rooted in the ancient art form of Bharatnatyam, which is believed to be a part of the 'Pancham Veda'. As per Hindu mythology, Bharatnatyam was created by Lord Bramha and further developed with inputs from Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. In the modern age, this classical dance form has evolved into eight distinct styles, with Chhandaneerh striving to uphold the purity and tradition of Bharatnatyam while spreading dance literacy across the state.
