City of Cambridge Rowing Club, based in the heart of Cambridge, is a well-known and dynamic hub for rowers of all ages and abilities. The club has a rich history and is deeply integrated into the rowing community, always striving for excellence.
Under the leadership of Men's Head Coach Paul Carter and Women's Head Coach Richard Hoare, the coaching team is dedicated to pushing the club to new heights. Richard, originally from New Zealand, brings extensive experience and expertise to the women's team. Paul has achieved notable success with the men's crews during his time at the club. Together, they aim to continue building on the successes of previous seasons.
2023 was a standout year for the club. The men's first crew (M1) won the Head of the River at Cambridge Town Bumps for the first time in 43 years, a remarkable feat that highlights the hard work of both rowers and coaches. The women’s squad also saw strong performances, with four crews competing at Henley Women's Regatta and maintaining their 2nd position in the town bumps.
The club, just three years ago, unveiled a new rowing facility equipped with the latest boats and a top-of-the-line gym. This investment shows the club's commitment to the growth and development of its members at all levels.
City of Cambridge Rowing Club is proud of its vibrant, supportive community. Novices, recreational rowers, and competitive athletes all find a welcoming atmosphere here. The club hosts numerous social events and offers plenty of opportunities for members to connect, making it a bustling centre of activity both on and off the water.
Looking forward, Mike Partridge will step in as the Director of Rowing. Mike will collaborate closely with the coaching teams to ensure the club continues to build on its recent achievements and remains a leading rowing club in the Cambridge area.
