Clive War Memorial Pool

The Clive War Memorial Pool is an indoor swimming facility located in Farndon Park on the edge of the Clive River. It is open year-round and offers a range of amenities and services for both recreational and competitive swimmers.

The main pool is heated to 28 degrees Celsius, while the learner's pool is heated to 31 degrees Celsius, providing a comfortable swimming experience for all ages. The complex consists of a 25-metre training pool and a 15-metre learn to swim pool, catering to both experienced swimmers and those who are just starting to learn.

In addition to regular swimming opportunities, the Clive War Memorial Pool also offers a variety of activities and services. AquaFit classes are available for those who prefer to work out with others, catering to all fitness levels. The pool is a base for the Trojan Swim Club, Waimarama Surf Club, and Hawke's Bay Canoe Polo, providing a space for these clubs to train and compete.

The pool is also used for school learn to swim and water safety classes, emphasising the importance of swimming education for children. During weekends in winter and school holidays, giant inflatables are often available to entertain the kids, adding an element of fun to their swimming experience.

When visiting the Clive War Memorial Pool, it is important to note that the 15-metre learner pool is closed to the public during learn to swim hours. Additionally, children under the age of 8 must be actively supervised by a caregiver over 16 years old, ensuring their safety at all times.

The pool has specific opening hours, which may vary throughout the year. From Monday to Friday until February 11th, 2024, the pool is open from 6am to 1pm. Starting from February 12th, 2024, the pool will be open from Monday to Thursday between 6am and 7pm, on Fridays from 6am to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 8. 30am to 3pm (with the climbing wall available from 1pm to 2.

30pm). Please note that the pool is closed on Sundays.

Lane swimming is available during specific hours on weekdays and Saturday mornings, with three swimming lanes available during certain periods. The learner pool has restricted public access during term time, with specific closures and limited availability.

The Clive War Memorial Pool has admission fees, which were set to increase by $1 starting from December 3rd, 2023. The prices are as follows: child under 5 years for $1, child aged 5-17 for $4, adult for $5, pensioner 65 years and above for $4, and SuperGold Cardholders for $1. AquaFit classes for adults are priced at $7 per session. Memberships are available for purchase online.

In addition to swimming, the pool offers a range of activities and services. This includes the Safe Boating Programme, which offers a course for open water users. The course covers safety measures, how to avoid danger, and survival techniques in the water. Participants will have a 20-minute dry land session and a 40-minute session in the pool.

The course costs $25 per participant, with limited spaces available.
