Congresbury Bowling Club

Congresbury Bowling Club (CBC), founded in 1945, is a vibrant lawn bowls club located in Bristol, New Zealand. With a full calendar of events throughout the bowling season from April to September, CBC offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for bowlers of all ages and skill levels.

New members are warmly welcomed and are invited to attend free coaching sessions on Monday evenings before making a final decision to join. Whether you're a seasoned bowler or a beginner, CBC provides the opportunity to improve your skills and enjoy the camaraderie of the sport.

CBC boasts a strong presence in both men's, ladies', and mixed competitions. The club competes in various leagues, including the Clevedon and District League, the Somerset County League, the Britannia Windows Evening League, the Mendip League, and the Weston & District Ladies League. In addition to league games, CBC also arranges friendly matches against local teams and hosts touring sides from different parts of the country.

The club's highly popular Triples League, a mixed tournament, is played on Friday nights and provides members with another opportunity to compete and socialise. Additionally, there is a turn-up-and-mix-in club night every Monday.

CBC not only focuses on competitive bowling but also organises numerous social events throughout the year for its members. The clubhouse bar is licenced to sell drinks at reasonable prices to members and their guests, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for socialising off the green.

From October to April, the club offers the option to play Short Mat bowls in the Clubhouse on Monday evenings from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. This provides an alternative format for members to continue playing bowls during the off-season.

As an affiliated club, CBC is proud to be a part of the Somerset Bowls Association and Bowls England.

Congresbury Bowling Club is also home to an enthusiastic and talented group of junior bowlers. In recent years, CBC Juniors has experienced significant growth, with 12 junior members, including newcomers to the sport. The juniors actively participate in the club's internal Friday Night League competition and represent the club in friendlies and competitions. Some juniors also have the opportunity to play at the county level.
