Craigmillar Park Bowling Club

Craigmillar Park Bowling Club, located in the Newington area of South Edinburgh, is a long-established lawn bowls club that welcomes new members with open arms. With a focus on fun and enjoyment, the club believes that age is no barrier as long as you have a youthful spirit.

The club is proud to announce its 2023 closing day, where unfortunately the wet weather prevented any play on the flooded green. However, the members made the most of the situation and enjoyed a game of Bingo instead. Even though the weather didn't cooperate, the camaraderie was still strong.

The club also takes pride in recognising its prizewinners for the year. Frances Lindsay emerged as the Ladies' Champion, while Ruth Addinall took home the Ladies' Handicap title. In the men's division, Walter Vassie secured the Men's Handicap champion title. George Hanson and Tom Motion teamed up as the winners of the Men's Dunbar Pairs, while George Hanson and Ruth Addinall won the Mixed Pairs competition.

Ruth Addinall and Gillean Hoehnke clinched the Ladies' Nominated Pairs title. Finally, the Caroline Miller Shield in the Men v. Ladies competition was won by the Ladies team.

The club had a successful and enjoyable day at Dunfermline, despite the windy conditions. Craigmillar Park emerged victorious, winning the cup by three points. Craigmillar Park Bowling Club welcomes everyone to join their sessions to play and learn the game. Coaching sessions are held on Saturdays at 10:00 am, followed by a play session at 2:00 pm. On Mondays, play begins at 6:00 pm after a session starting at 5:45 pm. Wednesday offers another opportunity for play at 1:00 pm.

The club had a fantastic Opening Day in April 2023, with favourable weather and a great turnout of players and spectators. Last year's club champion, Sally Vick, had the honour of rolling the Silver Jack to kickstart the day. The Vice Presidents team emerged victorious this year, and the tea provided by club members was a big hit.

Additionally, the club showcases the accomplishments of its 2022 closing day, where Donald Bunting was crowned the Men's Champion and Tom Lenaghan finished as the runner-up. Ruth Adinall emerged as the Ladies Handicap winner.

Craigmillar Park Bowling Club offers a warm and welcoming environment for lawn bowls enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. With its vibrant community and active social calendar, the club promises a great time on and off the green.
