Welcome to Cronulla RSL Table Tennis, a sub club of Cronulla RSL Memorial Club, established in 1947. The club meets every Monday night and now also on Saturday mornings, including public holidays, at Marton Community Hall in Kurnell. The hall is located at 92 Captain Cook Drive, Kurnell. The club takes a break over the Christmas and New Year period and resumes on Saturday, January 13th, and Monday, January 15th, 2024.
On Monday nights, the club runs social competitions from 6:30 pm to approximately 9:30 pm. Saturday mornings sessions are from 9:00 am to 11:30 am and include singles, doubles, and some free coaching for those interested. Players of all levels are welcome, and the entry fee is $5.
Cronulla RSL Table Tennis Club prides itself on its diverse membership, which includes both male and female players ranging from their early teens to their early 90s. The club has a handicap scoring system that ensures everyone has a chance to win each match, regardless of experience. The club has five tables and aims to provide each player with the opportunity to play between 4 and 6 games per night, including both singles and doubles matches.
The club also emphasises the social aspect of table tennis and organises several social events throughout the year. These events include prizes for various categories to ensure that every player has a chance to win. The club also participates in The St. George & Sutherland Shire Competition, with members occasionally competing as pennant players.
To become a member of the Table Tennis Club, players from their early teens and above must also join the Cronulla RSL Memorial Club if they are not already members. The joining fee for the Table Tennis Club is $10 per year, payable in cash from the first week of July. The playing fee is $5 in cash per night. Visitors are welcome to play at the club for up to three weeks before applying for membership.
The club opens its doors at 6:30 pm, and the playing draw is made at 6:45 pm sharp. Players intending to play must arrive before 6:45 pm. Games start at 7:00 pm. If a player will arrive between 6:45 pm and 7:15 pm, they must contact one of the club's three contacts before 6:45 pm to be eligible for the official games.
Most nights, the club finishes just after 9:30 pm.
