The Thorpe Bay Yacht Club invites everyone to join their Cruising Introduction event. This event provides a wonderful opportunity to experience cruising along the Essex coast. Whether you are interested in exploring the scenic Medway with Queenborough, Gillingham, and Chatham, or venturing towards Whitstable, Margate, Ramsgate, and even crossing the Channel to Calais or Gravelines, there are plenty of exciting destinations to discover.
If you prefer heading north, you can explore the Havengore Bridge and the magnificent creeks leading to Burnham. Alternatively, you can sail offshore to Bradwell, West Mersea, Hamford Water, Harwich, Woodbridge, and Aldeburgh. The cruising section also allows you to explore the picturesque waters of the Crouch, Blackwater, Colne, Orwell, Stour, Deben, and Ore.
For those who enjoy racing, the Thorpe Bay Yacht Club hosts regular races around Thames buoys and beacons, including occasional long-distance races. Devoted racers also have the opportunity to race with other clubs on the foreshore and participate in the six interclub races, with the highly anticipated Nore Race being the largest.
During the winter months, smaller cruisers up to 2 tonnes and 23' in length are safely stored at the club's boat-park until the spring. Larger boats are typically lifted out at Canvey, Leigh, or the boatyards along the River Crouch.
If you are interested in joining the cruising community or simply want to learn more about cruising while keeping the dinghy-racing option open, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Club next Tuesday. You can mingle with fellow enthusiasts, enjoy a drink, and receive more information about the exciting world of cruising. A warm welcome awaits you!
