At the Marlborough Dance Centre, achieving Distinction in both Ballet and Jazz examinations with the Royal Academy of Dance. I also obtained a Diploma in Dance Performance from the New Zealand Dance Company, where I trained in Contemporary dance. I am passionate about sharing my love of dance with students of all ages and abilities, and believe in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Furthermore, I am thrilled to be a part of the DANCE on Grove team and continue to inspire young dancers.
At DANCE on Grove, we offer a wide range of classes for dancers of all ages and levels. Our classes include ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and musical theatre. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced dancer, we have a class that suits you. Our experienced and dedicated teachers are committed to providing quality dance education that nurtures both technique and artistry.
We believe in fostering a love for dance in our students, while also encouraging them to push their boundaries and reach their full potential. Classes are structured to provide a balance between technical training and creative expression. We aim to create a positive and supportive environment where dancers feel comfortable to express themselves and grow as individuals.
As a registered organisation for the Royal Academy of Dance, we offer our students the opportunity to take RAD examinations. These exams provide a structured and internationally recognised framework for assessing dance proficiency and progress. Students have the chance to challenge themselves and receive feedback from industry professionals.
In addition to regular classes, we also produce an annual production, where our students have the opportunity to showcase their skills and perform on a professional stage. This gives our dancers a taste of the performing arts industry and allows them to develop confidence and stage presence.
DANCE on Grove has a rich history that dates back to 1980. Our Artistic Director, Jeannie Mark, has been a prominent figure in the Marlborough dance community for over four decades. She began teaching ballet and open jazz classes in a small hall, before eventually establishing the Jeannie Gill Academy of Dance. Over the years, the studio grew and evolved, eventually becoming the Marlborough Dance Centre.
In 2020, DANCE on Grove underwent a rebranding and change of direction. The new name reflects our commitment to providing a diverse range of dance styles and opportunities. We continue to uphold the legacy of our founder, while embracing new possibilities and paths.
Our team of dedicated teachers, including Jason Parker and Elly Molloy, bring their expertise and passion for dance to every class. They are committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, where dancers can thrive and reach their full potential.
We are proud of the success of our students, many of whom have gone on to pursue professional dance or teaching careers. We also take pride in our involvement in the local theatre scene, with over 85 productions produced and directed by Jeannie Mark.
Furthermore, we invite you to join us at DANCE on Grove and experience the extraordinary world of dance. Whether you are a young child exploring movement for the first time or an adult looking to reconnect with your passion, we have a class for you. Come and be a part of our dance family and embark on a journey of self-expression, creativity, and joy.
