In an effort to create more inclusive programs, Special Olympics Australia has partnered with DanceSport Australia. This collaboration aims to expand the reach of all-abilities programs and competitions in dance schools all across the nation. DanceSport WA, located in Western Australia, has already embraced this initiative by offering inclusive programs and competitions, and even receiving state government funding.
As part of this partnership, Special Olympics competitions will now be integrated into DanceSport national and state competitions. This means that Special Olympics athletes will not only have the chance to compete at a national level through DanceSport events, but also at the Special Olympics National Games, which take place every four years. We are thrilled to announce that DanceSport will be included as an official sport at the upcoming National Games in 2022, and will continue to be featured in subsequent National and World Games.
