The founder of Dancing Isis Dance Movement Therapy, Maria Sangiorgi, has always been driven by curiosity, creative expression, and a desire to try everything at least once. Growing up in Coonawarra, South Australia, she explored the landscape and developed a deep appreciation for nature. Singing, dancing, and expressing herself through various art forms became a natural part of her life.
As a young teenager, Maria was drawn to helping those with disabilities and those in need. Her passion for learning and experiencing new things led her to explore various somatic practises, which ultimately informed her work in Egyptian dance. These somatic practises include Alexander Technique, Body Mind Centring, Continuum, Ideokinesis, Feldenkrais, and the physical, emotional, and spiritual expression of the Endocrine/Chakric System. This integration of ancient wisdom and contemporary somatic practises became known as Embodied Bellydance.
At Dancing Isis Dance Movement Therapy, participants will have the opportunity to explore their individual dance journeys. The school believes that each person's dance is unique and has the power to transform them on a physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational level. Through movement, participants will discover their own ease and grace, explore their emotional responses, and tap into their divine self.
