About Darling Downs Field Archers Inc.
Welcome to Darling Downs Field Archers Inc. , a fully affiliated member of the Australian Bowhunters Association (ABA) and active member of ABA Branch D. DDFA brings together a diverse group of enthusiastic field archers from various backgrounds who share a passion for archery. The club welcomes all categories of bows, excluding crossbows, and promotes the nationally recognised “Bowhunter Proficiency Certificate” offered by ABA.
Through this certificate, DDFA aims to increase awareness and respect for the environment, as well as preserve it for future generations.
DDFA offers a healthy outdoor activity that is suitable for individuals of all ages and physical capabilities. Whether you are looking for a fun way to spend time with your family or seek to be more competitive, you will find a warm welcome at DDFA.
We are pleased to announce that the Queensland Government has allocated $2000 in funding to improve our Sporting Fields as part of their 2020 Election Commitment. The Department of Tourism, Innovation, and Sport is assisting us in delivering this project.
InformationArchery is a sport that involves shooting with a bow and arrow. There are several forms of archery, including bow hunting (targeting feral animals), target archery (shooting at round paper targets indoors or outdoors), and field archery (shooting at feral animal coloured vinyl targets or 3D feral animal targets in a bush setting). Different types of bows, such as compound bows, long bows, and recurve bows, can be used in these various forms.
Founded by ten enthusiastic archers in 1978, DDFA currently boasts around 120 members, including families with young children. Our club facilities include two 20-target ranges, a 80m practise range, and a 14-target IFAA range. We have the capacity to accommodate various shoot formats and provide amenities such as a clubhouse with flushing toilets, hot showers, a canteen, and a BBQ area. Safety is a primary concern at DDFA, and we adhere to the strict requirements set by ABA.
We are constantly upgrading our club facilities to meet the evolving needs of our members and to foster the social side of the sport. While we cater to most forms of archery, crossbows are not permitted at our range. DDFA is proudly affiliated with the Australian Bowhunters Association Inc. (ABA), which is recognised worldwide and has affiliations with other national and international bodies such as the International Field Archery Association (IFAA) and the World Bowhunting Association (WOBA).
