Paul Barrett welcomes you to Darlington Storm Basketball Club! He’s dedicated to making this community a supportive place for basketball enthusiasts in Darlington, UK.

Paul wants to let everyone know about a few important updates. Starting 1st August 2023, the club is switching to a new monthly payment system using the SPOND app. Members need to cancel existing direct debits or standing orders and make payments through the app. Payment requests will go out on the 1st of each month and must be settled before attending sessions to avoid extra fees.

Additionally, the club has introduced the SPOND app, replacing Teamo. It will provide the latest updates on training sessions, games, and venues. To stay in the loop, members should fill out the form on the website at www.darlingtonstorm.co.uk/join.

Session payments will also go through the SPOND app. For academic years 1-7, sessions cost £3.29 each or £15 per month, held on Thursdays from 17:30-18:30 and Sundays from 14:00-15:00 at Longfield Academy. For academic years 8-11, it’s £3.29 per session or £18 per month, with sessions on Thursdays from 17:30-18:30 and Sundays from 15:00-16:00, also at Longfield Academy. For years 12 and above, including adults, it’s £5.34 per session or £25 per month, on Wednesdays from 19:30-21:00 and Sundays from 16:00-17:30 at Hummersknott Academy. Note that session changes are coming soon.

Paul reminds members to register with Basketball England within the first four training sessions to ensure proper affiliation and insurance coverage.

The club is also looking for volunteers to help with adult and children’s sessions. Roles include coach, team manager, photographer, fundraiser, first-aider, table official, and referee. Interested individuals should contact the club for more info.

Darlington Storm is led by a committed team including Steph Royal (treasurer), Scott Quinn (safeguarding officer), Maggie Hart (secretary), and Leo Cassidy (chairman), among others. The coaching staff features experienced trainers like Paul Barrett, Leo Cassidy, Danny Morgans, Mal Royal, John Backes, and Jonathan Thompson, covering various age groups and skill levels.
