Dee Why Lions Rugby Club is thrilled to invite new and familiar faces to come and enjoy the exhilarating sport of rugby at their esteemed club. With a wide range of programs tailored to suit different age groups, there is something for everyone to get involved in.
For our youngest players, aged 3-4, we have the Lion Cubs program. The Lion Cubs engage in fun games that not only enhance their fitness but also develop their coordination and ball skills. This exciting program takes place every Friday night from May to August at the James Morgan Reserve. As an added bonus, each player will receive a specially designed Lion Cub training shirt, an emblem of their dedication to the sport.
Our Minis Rugby competition is designed for boys and girls aged 6-9. This program is expertly coordinated by the Warringah & Manly Junior Rugby Union Clubs. Players can look forward to thrilling games held on Saturday mornings from March to August, with matches taking place at various clubs in the area. It's an excellent opportunity for young rugby enthusiasts to showcase their skills and share unforgettable moments with teammates.
In addition, our U8/U9 Girls category takes part in the Sydney North Girls Rugby (SNGR) competition, hosted by the Terrey Hills Rugby Club. This presents an exciting chance for girls to compete against talented opposition and further develop their passion for the sport.
For those aged 10-18, our Junior Rugby program offers a wealth of opportunities. The 2024 season promises a packed schedule with alluring events such as the SJRU Sizzling 7s Gala Day, Junior XVs Gala Days, SJRU Spring Gala Days, and much more. Boys and girls are both welcome to participate in these competitions, which are held on Sundays or Friday evenings. It's an extraordinary chance for young players to experience the exhilaration of competing at a higher level.
When it comes to registration costs, we offer a range of options to suit different budgets. Fees vary depending on the age group and program, ranging from $60 to $240. We understand the importance of affordability, which is why we encourage parents to apply for the NSW Government's Active Kids Program. Eligible children can receive a $50 voucher to help cover registration fees, making it even easier for them to join in the rugby fun.
Registering with Dee Why Lions is a breeze, thanks to the user-friendly Rugby Xplorer platform. You can access this platform online or through the convenient Rugby Xplorer App on your smart devices. If you are a first-time user, simply sign up to get started. Returning users can log in using their email address. To register for Dee Why Lions, select the relevant player and choose 'Dee Why JRUFC' as the club. Be sure to select the appropriate registration type based on the age group and program you wish to join. It's worth noting that separate registrations are necessary for both the Sizzling 7s and SJRU Juniors competitions.
