Derriaghy CC Football Club, a local sports club in Belfast, has been bringing the community together since its establishment in 1982. Initially formed by members of the Derriaghy Cricket Club, the aim was to stay connected and active during the off-season of cricket.
Starting in the Lisburn League 2nd Division, the club made an impressive debut by securing a joint fourth-place finish in their very first season. This early success led to their promotion as a result of league restructuring. Throughout their tenure in the league, Derriaghy CCFC reached two cup finals, though unfortunately they didn't emerge victorious on either occasion.
In 1987, the team joined the Northern Amateur Football League and competed in Division 2C. The club's maiden match ended in a 1-1 draw, away against Bangor Swifts. Three years later, the club expanded with the creation of a second team. This team initially played their home matches at Dunmurry High School before later finding a permanent home at Fullerton Park. The second team has also achieved its fair share of success, clinching the title in divisions 3E (1992/93) and 3D (1998/99). Currently, the second team proudly competes in Division 3C.
Adding to their list of accomplishments, the second team triumphed in the NAFL Templeton Cup in May 2004, further highlighting the club's dedication to excellence. Today, Derriaghy CCFC proudly calls Seycon Park in Seymour Hill its home ground, where exciting matches and spirited performances take place. In addition, the clubrooms provide a welcoming space for the teams to gather and prepare for their games.
Derriaghy CC Football Club continues to thrive, bringing the joy of soccer to the local community. With their rich history and relentless drive for success, this sports club is a force to be reckoned with on and off the field. So, if you're a passionate player or simply someone who enjoys the thrill of soccer, join Derriaghy CCFC for their upcoming event and experience the electrifying atmosphere first-hand.
