Downfield Golf Club

From Dundee), the club was formed in October 1932 from enthusiastic local players on the Ardler estate. The course was designed by James Braid, a renowned golf architect, and officially opened in May 1934.

Over the years, Downfield Golf Club has gained a reputation as one of the top golfing destinations in Scotland. It has hosted various prestigious events, including The Open Final Qualifying in 1999 and 2007, Seniors Open Qualifying in 2010 and 2016, the Scottish Amateur Championship in 2014, and the Scottish PGA Championship in 2019. Additionally, it has been honoured to host the R&A Women's and Girls' Home Internationals in 2019, and the R&A Girls and Boys Home Internationals in 2022.

In July 2023, Downfield Golf Club hosted the Tartan Pro Tour – the official feeder tour to the Challenge Tour. Golfers from around the world have praised the course, with five-time Open champion Peter Thomson describing it as one of the finest inland courses he's ever played. Paul Lawrie, the 1999 Open Champion who qualified at Downfield, also considers it to be one of the finest inland courses in Britain.
