Dowty Judo Club, located in Gloucester, is a renowned Judo club registered with the British Judo Association (BJA). For those new to Judo, the club offers beginners' courses for juniors and seniors. The 8-week course for juniors costs 25.

Practise sessions are held on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Mondays, the mixed junior and senior session runs from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM and focuses primarily on Randori (sparring). Wednesdays are split into two sessions: juniors from 6:30 PM to 7:45 PM and seniors from 7:45 PM to 9:15 PM. Registration begins 15 minutes prior to the start of each session.
Mat fees for sessions are as follows: junior beginners' 8-session course costs 25. 00 and senior beginners' 8-session course costs 30. 00. After completing the course, juniors and youths pay 4.
00 for each session, while seniors pay 5. 00.
For newcomers without a Judo gi (uniform), the club can provide a loaner gi. If they do not have the appropriate size, participants are advised to wear loose trousers or leggings without any metal, along with a t-shirt. Long hair should be tied back, and jewellery is not permitted during the session.
