Dublin Aikikai Aikido, located in Dublin 1, practises Aikikai, the organisation originated by the founder of Aikido, O-Sensei, and is currently headed by O-Sensei's grandson in Tokyo. The club aims to remain faithful to the roots of Aikido, offering classes based at Dance House Studios on Foley Street. They welcome beginners at any time and frequently host beginners' courses to introduce new students to the art of Aikido.
The club offers a 6 week series of beginner classes for individuals interested in starting or returning to Aikido. These classes focus on teaching basic techniques and safe falling practises in a stress-free environment. The goal of the course is to provide a foundation in Aikido for students to continue in the club's standard classes. Beginners can attend these classes for 50, and classes are held on Mondays or Thursdays, with the option to attend twice a week after a week or two.
Dublin Aikikai Aikido also hosts seminars with renowned Aikido teachers such as Philippe Gouttard Shihan, who brings years of experience and expertise to the mat. These seminars are open to all levels and affiliations, providing participants with the opportunity to learn from some top Aikido instructors in Europe.
