About
Fancy a swim in Bournemouth? Join Durley Sea Swims! Helen and the gang are all about marathon swim training in a fun, friendly, and supportive environment. Picture yourself gliding through crystal-clear water with sandy beaches waiting for you—perfect for sharpening your swimming skills.
Since 2013, Helen has been cheering on swimmers, especially those tackling the English Channel. Now, the group’s a bit of a legend, with sessions every weekend from May to September and extra Friday night swims during the summer fireworks. Open to everyone, they’re especially keen on helping those training for 10 km and longer swims. They even help you out with feeds during those marathon sessions (but remember, you swim at your own risk).
Toss a £3 donation their way if you can—it all goes back to keeping things running smoothly. Durley Sea Swims is run by volunteers, all passionate about the “swimmers supporting swimmers” ethos. It’s a real community vibe, celebrating everyone’s achievements together.
Helen’s group is tight with all sorts of swim organisations, building great relationships along the way. Meet up at 15 West Overcliff Drive for free early morning parking or head to the pay and display next to the Durley Chine Harvester pub. Swims kick off at 09:00 in May and 08:00 for the rest of the season, right in front of the Durley Chine lifeguard hut.
