Edinburgh Divers BSAC21 is one of the oldest scuba diving clubs in Britain, established in 1953 and incorporated as Branch 21 with the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) in 1954. As a club affiliated with BSAC, we follow their world-renowned diver training programme and safe diving practises. Our diving qualifications are recognised worldwide. Our membership ranges from beginners to experienced divers, and we offer a full range of dive trips to suit divers of all experience levels.
We have exclusive access to the pool at Wester Hailes Education Centre on a weekly basis every Wednesday from 8 to 9pm. After our pool sessions, we usually go for a drink to unwind and socialise. Most of our members dive using standard scuba equipment and drysuits, but we also have divers using twinsets or closed-circuit rebreathers. Our club is diverse, with members ranging from marine biologists to technical diving enthusiasts.
We have a variety of instructors who volunteer their time to offer training and develop the diving skills of our club members. All costs are shared equally among trip participants, and nobody makes any profit from diving within the club.
Diving in Scotland offers breathtaking scenery both above and below the water, as well as fantastic opportunities for wreck diving and exploration. Our club organises trips all year round, with regular day trips to local dive sites. We also plan longer trips to places like the Sound of Mull, Oban, the Farne Islands, and the Moray Firth. We use local hardboat operators or a hardboat owned by some of our members.
In recent years, we have also organised week-long expeditions to Scapa Flow in Orkney, Shetland, Norway, Northern Ireland, and Egypt. So, if you think warm seas are the only ones worth experiencing, think again!
We welcome new members, whether they are new to diving or have years of experience. Membership allows you to take part in all our club activities, including our weekly pool sessions. We also offer a Pool Membership option for those who prefer not to dive but still want to participate in other club activities. Our annual membership fee has two components: membership of BSAC and the club fee.
BSAC membership fees vary based on qualification, ranging from 32 to 60. 50. All levels of membership include third-party insurance, a subscription to monthly SCUBA magazine, discounts to various stores, and more.
Join Edinburgh Divers BSAC21 and discover the incredible underwater world of Scotland while enjoying the camaraderie and support of our experienced divers and instructors.
